Kim Pfeiffer has lived on a Central Nebraska farm with her husband, Mark, for 35 years. Her ocean is a cornfield, and her mountaintop is a small-town water tower. This dirt-road domain is where she delighted in watching their three children and nephews grow up, playing in the farmyard beneath a cloud-painted sky.

Kim gleans writing ideas from her experiences as a former elementary school teacher, mother, and grandmother. “Calvin’s Crazy Boots” was inspired by her grandson who has Cerebral Palsy. His crazy boots are the ankle-foot braces he wears to move and play. She hopes her stories will foster empathy, kindness, and acceptance among children of all abilities.

Kim’s bliss is when she’s anywhere with family and friends. She also enjoys the natural serenity at their cabin near the Platte River. Her Maltipoo dog, Oliver, is the editor who often sits beside her while she writes.
